ELSAH, IL- The Principia Theatre Music and Dance Department will be presenting the critically acclaimed dark musical comedy Urinetown. The play written by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollman and music by Hollman will be directed by non-other than Principia’s very own John O'Hagan.
The musical has garnered mixed reactions from the Principia student body not for its subject matter but from its’s name. The musical satirizes capitalism and bureaucracy. Without going into spoilers, the plot centers around a dystopian world where a water shortage crisis leads to one company controlling all the bathrooms in the country. Failure to pay for the use of the bathrooms results in the perpetrator being exiled to Urinetown.
“The Principia community as well as the surrounding community are in for a treat, with Urinetown.” Said Michael Coburn the lead of the show. “I for one am bursting with anticipation!”
The musical will be put on at the Principia Cox auditorium from November the 15th to the 17th. General ticket prices are 10 dollars and 7 dollars for students. They can be purchased online through the Principia marketplace webpage or at the door.
